Wang Genbin often said that to be a company is like swimming in the sea, you must have a sense of risk control. The weather is hard to predict. Today is sunny, and tomorrow may be a storm. I have to learn often, strengthen my skills, and resist the risk of force majeure.

He is an ordinary farmer's child. He dropped out of school at the age of 15 and took a hard road to entrepreneurship at the age of 21...


With a strong will and hard learning spirit, we always adhere to the operating principles of “integrity management, paying taxes according to regulations, and treating employees well”. After 20 years of development, it has built a modern enterprise group, focusing on fire product R&D and production, fire engineering design and construction, and civil air defense engineering manufacturing and installation. It has become one of the most qualified enterprises in the fire protection industry.

He is the president of the Nanjing Pukou District Youth Entrepreneurs Association and the chairman of Nanjing Guotai Fire Fighting Group Co., Ltd. Wang Genbin.


Cross-border life

Wang Genbin was born in an ordinary peasant family in Liuhe District, Nanjing. There are three brothers. His parents are honesty and peasants. The family's life and income are all in the soil.


In 1993, the 15-year-old Wang Genbin dropped out of junior high school and went to Nanjing to find a job from Liuhe Country with a salary of 38 yuan. Later, in the introduction of Xiao Yan, he went to Nanjing Hanzhong Metal Component Factory to do an apprenticeship.


"At the time, I was only 15 years old. I still have no ID card. I still need to pay a deposit of 100 yuan when I enter the factory. I still keep the deposit for the year." Wang Genbin still remembers the scene.


The main products of Nanjing Hanzhong Metal Component Factory are file cabinets and safes. As an apprentice, Wang Genbin is going to work wherever he lives. He works hard for more than ten hours a day. However, Wang Genbin is very serious about learning the operation techniques of each link and understanding the production process and key points. No matter how busy and tired, as long as the master is working, he will lay aside his hand and watch it carefully and carefully. Because of his hard work, his skill level has improved rapidly.


In a competition for the production of technical cabinets in the whole factory, Wang Genbin won the first place with excellent skills and excellent level, and was recognized by the factory manager. The 17-year-old Wang Genbin was promoted to the team leader and soon promoted to the workshop director.

In 1999, there was a wave of laid-offs in the country. The factory where Wang Genbin was located was forced to start restructuring, and the workers had to leave. What makes Wang Genbin feel very sad is that the dear old factory director has also retired.


Perhaps because of disagreement, Wang Genbin, the backbone of the factory, has not been reused by the new director. He was very depressed and felt that life was like walking into a dead end.

Looking at the surrounding people from time to time to set up factories, and stand on their own, Wang Genbin decided to try it himself.


In the 6-year component factory experience, Wang Genbin has become the best technical worker in the whole factory. The customized file cabinets and safes in the factory are all produced by him. He is confident to be a small factory for file cabinet processing! Then he took out all the savings, and asked for relatives and friends to raise funds, pooled 80,000 yuan, rented a factory of less than 130 square meters, and purchased the basic production equipment and materials, the factory officially opened.


At that time, Wang Genbin was just 21 years old and had completed the cross-border life from dropout students to workers and workers to factory directors.


Fighting business

At the beginning of the business, it was very difficult. Wang Genbin was the factory manager during the day and worked as a worker at night. After insisting on this for one year, his small cabinets were still unsatisfactory.


The former production chief said to Wang Genbin: "You are a 'five no' factory, no money, no experience, no market, no equipment, no one, you are not doing well! Unless you are Superman!" That night Wang Genbin stayed up all night. Sleeping on the hard bed of the workshop, his body has been trembled. The money that the mother used to build the house was taken up by Wang Genbin, and the money of relatives and friends borrowed. He warned himself that he can't lose and can't afford to lose!


An occasional opportunity, when running the business, Wang Genbin met a person in the industry who is a fire box. Then he visited his factory with a learning attitude. After carefully visiting all the workshop production lines, on the night of the return, Wang Genbin had an inspiration in his head. Why didn't I change to a fire box? We have already possessed both technology and production capacity, and it is not difficult to change it. And firefighting is a cause for people's lives, and certainly has a bright future.


Thinking of acting, this is Wang Genbin's style. But he has no qualifications, no conditions, what to do? Then create conditions. In 2000, Wang Genbin began to rely on a fire-fighting enterprise to be his foundry, mainly producing fire-fighting boxes, and at the same time selling some products.


Wang Genbin said that the fire box at that time was generally ugly, the work was very rough, and the production requirements were far less strict than the safe requirements. “I transplanted the technology of the safe to the production of the fire box, and the product was welcomed by the customers as soon as it went on the market.”


This year, Wang Genbin's foundry has done a good job. Just like everything seems to be good, Wang Genbin’s fire-fighting business owner began to show his showdown with him, demanding to buy back the foundry, and Wang Genbin categorically refused. He decided to apply for his own qualifications and get rid of the fate of the foundry.


Wang Genbin always believes that fire protection products are about safety, and must be good quality. Min'an can be Cathay. For this reason, he named the company "Guotai." In 2001, Wang Genbin established the Nanjing Guotai Fire Equipment Factory, which was also the predecessor of Nanjing Guotai Fire Protection Group.


Wang Genbin rushed into the market during the day and buried it in the factory at night. He began to study various fire regulations and requirements day and night, innovated on the basis of standards, and constantly tested new products to maximize the products.


Hard work pays off. A Cathay Pacific innovative fire box product that broke the industry pattern came out. It not only has excellent quality and beautiful appearance, but also meets the requirements of various national standards. More importantly, the thickness is reduced under the premise of constant strength, and the cost is also greatly reduced.


Wang Genbin adopts a marketing model of small profits but quick turnover and after-sales service. Upon launch of Cathay's new fire protection products, it immediately caused a sensation in the market, and orders were flying like snowflakes. In a small 130-square-meter workshop, more than a dozen workers were dumped in three shifts, and the products were still in short supply. Cathay Pacific ushered in a period of rapid development. This year, Wang Genbin was just 23 years old.


Wang Genbin said that at the time, the fire protection products market had few manufacturers. Our products can meet the needs of the market and have good after-sales service. Cathay Pacific has developed very rapidly. In 2002, we had to look for new plants and expand production capacity.


In 2003, the turnover of Nanjing Guotai Fire Equipment Factory exceeded 10 million yuan for the first time.

As the company grew, Wang Genbin realized that it was impossible to rely on a single product. He began to enrich the product line.


Wang Genbin organized scientific research and technical personnel to start research and development of new products, starting from the internal equipment of fire extinguishing boxes, gradually expanding to fireproof materials, fire equipment and automatic fire extinguishing systems, and successively developed fire extinguishers, fire hoses, water guns, interfaces, fire alarms. In 2005, Wang Genbin once again felt that the factory area was limited. He found the Nanjing Pukou High-tech Development Zone and bought 30 mu of land in one fell swoop, and then expanded to 120 mu. Expand plant land and use large-scale production to increase production.


In 2006, the Guotai High-tech Park was completed. The Cathay product line has expanded from fire-fighting equipment to fire-retardant materials, from automatic fire-fighting systems to fire-fighting equipment, and Cathay's products have begun to move from Jiangsu to the country.


Win the future

Wang Genbin often said at the company's meeting that to do business is like swimming in the sea, there must be awareness of risk control. The weather is hard to predict. At this time, Wang Genbin began to look at the world and actively went abroad through industry associations to inspect the development status of foreign counterparts. In the United States, Wang Genbin found that the fire protection market is very professional and the technical level is far superior to domestic counterparts. At the same time, he found that the top three in the US fire protection industry accounted for 30% of the market share; while the domestic market is too fragmented, the market share of the top 30 domestic fire protection industry adds up to 10% of the industry.


Wang Genbin said that the study in the United States in 2007 made him realize that the future market must be standardized, large-scale and professional. “I think if Cathay seizes the opportunity, the future market will have a lot to offer.”


After returning to China, Wang Genbin first established the "serving society and benefiting mankind" as the business purpose of the company, and wrote it into the cultural charter of Cathay. Then he decided to further expand the reproduction and expand the Cathay industry.


In 2007, Cathay established the Engineering Division and began to get involved in the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and technical consulting services for various fire protection projects.


In 2008, Cathay Pacific established the Civil Defense Division to produce reinforced concrete protective equipment, anti-chemical ventilation, electric control doors, anti-electromagnetic pulses, steel structure manual protection equipment, valves and other civil air defense equipment.


In 2009, Cathay Pacific Group was officially listed, and the three business divisions also developed into one of the most qualified companies in China.


While opening up the industrial chain, Wang Genbin also pays great attention to technology research and development and builds an intellectual property system.

At present, Cathay has nearly 800 professional and technical personnel, management personnel, more than 400 intermediate titles, and invested heavily in the establishment of the Cathay Fire Brigade, Fire School, Fire Science and Technology Museum. Form a closed-loop ecology of design, development, manufacturing, construction and installation, inspection and maintenance, and safety assessment of the entire safety industry chain.

In the introduction of technology, Wang Genbin has spared no effort. In 2017, Cathay Pacific and Italy's Tuscan Door Industry Group reached an acquisition intention to incorporate their OTC brand and door and window technology into Cathay Pacific. The Tuscan Door Industry Group has inherited the hand-made door-making process that the founder Fedi family has inherited for generations, which made OTCDOORS products quickly recognized by the Italian market at the beginning of its creation. Talking about overseas mergers and acquisitions, Wang Genbin said with a smile: "We have completed the last short board of Cathay." With the increasing emphasis on safety, the demand for refuge in high-rise buildings is increasing, and fire doors and fire windows are essential as a key part of the refuge. At present, the domestic fire door market is still not standardized. The detection of similar products in European countries is very strict, and the fire doors must be able to withstand 90 minutes of fire. Cathay Pacific completed the acquisition of OTC brand and door and window technology, and will transplant technology to the domestic market to provide high quality wooden fire doors for domestic customers.


This year, the Guotai Yizheng Fire Protection Industrial Park was officially completed. The industrial park covers an area of nearly 400 mu. It is a comprehensive industry integrating science and technology, research and development, pilot test, incubation, production, life, education and experience. Enclave.


Guotai Yizheng Fire Protection Industrial Park has the most advanced fire extinguisher series production line in China, and has the production line of wooden door door products produced by Italian high-end technology. It also has fire protection products such as steel protective doors and fire shutter doors, fire box and complete product production line. , alarm series, fire equipment series, IoT series production lines. It will become the most complete production base for fire protection products in China and the world.

Wang Genbin plans to complete the construction of the Cathay Industrial Circle with 5-10 years of efforts and build an integrated service provider for China's security industry.
